My trip to Omaha was fun and relaxing. My flight experience home was a headache and nightmarish.
Here is my original itinerary:
1:15pm flight from Omaha to Chicago. Arrive in Chicago at 2:45pm
5:00pm flight from Chicago to Buffalo. Arrive in Buffalo at 7:25pm
Here is my modified itinerary:
1:15pm flight canceled-rebook to 2:55pm. ETA in Chicago is 4:30pm
2:55 flight delayed to 4:00pm-rebook 5:00 Chicago flight for 6:10pm
2:55 flight delayed to 4:40pm
2:55 flight delayed to 4:50pm
2:55 flight delayed to 5:05pm-rebook 6:10 Chicago flight for 9:15pm
2:55 flight boards, we watch the safety demo, push back from gate.
2;55 flight pulls back into gate and we go back into terminal
2:55 flight delayed until 6:50pm due to "ground stop" in Chicago
Get back on plane at 6:00pm because they need the gate for another flight
2:55 flight finally lifts off around 7:30pm
Arrival in Chicago but we have to sit on the plane and wait. No place to park.
8:40 By this time, my 9:16 flight should be boarding soon.
8:45 We are pulled into an "overflow" area and I wait in the pouring rain for my gate checked bag. It is really really cold by this time and I am getting tired.
8:50 Rush from F Terminal to B Terminal. My flight has boarded, but not left.
9:15 flight delayed until 10:00pm maybe 15 flights ahead of us for lift off
Waiting for 25 passengers from a connecting flight. Turns out it was a baseball team.
We finally push back from the gate and start to taxi slowly into this line of planes.
I tune into the air traffic control channel on my headrest and the line to get out of the airport has been referred to as a "conga" line. We make a long line that snakes all over O'Hare. Now there are 50-60 planes in line by this time. Huge back-up due to earlier ground stop that delays every single plane.
9:15 flight takes the air around 11:30pm Chicago time.
We arrive at 1:30am to snow in Buffalo.
I leave the airport at 2:07am and it takes me 40 minutes to drive home. I'm so glad the roads were deserted and I could drive like a granny and fish-tail all over the place.
I got into my bed around 3am. The cats decided that 3am was a great time for breakfast and tried to coax me out of bed. I wasn't moving.

Bailey got her first basket tonight. Hooray!!
Her team also beat the undefeated Bulls.
Now I must pack for my trip and break up a cat fight. Meow! Hisssssss!

Frazzled
I am going on a short trip out of town this weekend. Leaving town to visit a college friend for a baby shower in Nebraska sounds like a simple task. I am feeling the stress any household manager would feel when leaving the entire household to fend for its self. The plane takes off in about 24 hours and I am bound to get my panties in a bunch.
Half of my worry is that I have to leave early tomorrow morning for the airport. Nick will be in Pittsburgh until late tomorrow evening. I have to make sure Bailey gets to school, is picked up and supervised after school and makes it to a Girl Scout event that evening and then dropped off at home. Let's just hope Nick is at home before Bailey is dropped off. This is one of those times I wish I lived near family. I am busy writing pick-up notes for school and adding some Tylenol to Bailey's backpack because Girl Scout events almost always give her a headache. Then I include a medicine permission slip and then email all of this to her Girl Scout Leader. It totally doesn't help that I had to write one more note because Bailey has an orthodontist appointment at 2pm today (she gets her palate expander out!)
Now, I realize that I am the person who always dispenses Bailey's headache medicine so I start a note to Nick telling him what she usually takes. Nick is perfectly capable of figuring it out, but Bailey gets the dose for a 9-10 year old instead of a 6-8 year old due to her size. This note will inevitably become longer as the day goes on.
I had to make sure we are paid up at the orthodontist as well as remember to put the insurance reimbursement check in my purse to take to our appointment this afternoon. Check and Check! Oops. I almost forgot to forge Nick's signature on the back so I can sign over the check. I almost always misspell "Nicholas".
I am trying to get all of the laundry done which is what I usually do over the weekend. Since I still have to pack, I haven't even started to fret over my carry-on space situation for my flight. That just adds one more item to my list: Check weather forecast.
My Dad's birthday is on the 22nd I haven't even begun to pick up his gift. Since I live so far away, last minute shopping isn't much of an option because I have to drop the gift in the mail. At least I have a vague idea of what I want to pick up.
Once all of that is done, all I have left to do is do some grocery shopping, clean the house, take Bailey to a basketball game and sleep.
Sleep is going to be tough, I have a very very bad habit of missing flights when I'm alone. I have never actually made a flight when I'm flying alone. I have only flown alone 3 times but I have missed 3 flights. Hopefully tomorrow I can break my streak.
As I was writing that, I remembered that I am going to have one of our cars parked at the airport. I just washed the cover on our other car seat so I have to bring that up from the basement and toss it in the other car.
Nick is not 100% incapable of calling me and asking me where the car seat is, but chances are I will be out of cell phone service area when I am out there.
Ahhhh. Now that I have all of that written down, I think I will be fine this weekend. Just don't forget my flat iron or my iPhone charger or my iPhone ear buds, or some antacids. Sigh. . .

Snow Fort
Nick and Bailey made a snow fort and I finally took some pictures this winter.
I added the pictures to an album that I already used once, but the pictures are at the end.
Enjoy

My Cats Suck-Warning! Saucy Launguage
It is 5:34am. I am up because CHEESEBURGER my stupid pee pee kitty decided that breakfast should be served at 4am. He scratched relentlessly at a piece of paper on the floor. I took it away. He found a plastic bag instead. He jumped up on the bed and stuck his butt in my face.
Then Leroy started in on me. He was on the floor next to the bed and I reached down to pet him but when drawing back my hand, he decided it was playtime and dug his claws into my arm. Cheeseburger didn't like that so he and Leroy started to fight on top of the plastic bag.
I'm up boys I'M UP!!!!!
But you aren't getting fed until 6:30am.
Now I am wandering the internet searching for interesting articles. Awhile ago, I submitted my cats handiwork to a website/blog called Shit My Pets Ruined. If you enjoy that site, you will also enjoy their other sites like Shit My Kids Ruined.
Leroy and his asshole brother Cheeseburger were featured this morning. Click Here to see their story which I already told on this blog 2 years ago.
In other news, this "farming" community of our quiet town of Amherst, NY has been rocked to it's core. Ha ha!

Mean Bailey
My friend and I were discussing ugly babies. One of my favorite topics of conversation because all babies are ugly in my eyes. I said Bailey wasn't a beautiful baby but she got better.
My friend reminded me of how angry Bailey looked and sent me some photographic proof. She wasn't the most friendly of small children. Bailey gave everyone the evil eye especially if they had a camera in their hand. Here is Bailey looking pretty ticked off that someone has interrupted her McDonalds lunch.
Bailey hasn't changed a bit except she keeps her lips tightly closed because her braces are not a sideshow.
